In order to receive the best treatment for your migraine headaches, it is important to diagnose the primary cause if possible. We will go through a thorough consultation with you in addition to questions which help narrow down the culprit for your migraines and headaches.
A thorough consultation allows our doctor and staff to treat your migraine pain most effectively. We can identify any inflammation or herniated discs that are pinching nerves, creating migraine pain. From here, we pinpoint the treatment using spinal manipulation or a variation of massage therapies. This noninvasive method saves you on downtime and minimizes any risk to you.
Chiropractors use several noninvasive treatments to help patients manage migraine pain. This includes:
These chiropractic modalities help to reduce your current migraine pain, as well as to decrease the frequency and severity of migraine headaches. Soft tissue massage and deep tissue massage are typically best suited for preventing migraines. If you use massage while suffering from a migraine or headache, you can actually increase the pain by stimulating blood flow. Therefore, we limit these massage therapies to when you are not suffering from migraine pain.

Over the years, I have helped 100’s of patients recover from automobile injuries through Chiropractic Adjustments. While all cases are different, it seems the most complicated and perplexing cases are from low speed accidents. Often patients as well as their insurance companies do not understand how they could be hurt as bad as they were when there was little damage to their vehicle. In many cases, the injured had previous limitations or degeneration present before the accident and the complications from the trauma were intensified due to this.
A 2006 study published in The Personal Injury Law Journal helps explain how these injuries occur. Newton’s Law of Motion must be followed and held true by the motor vehicles and occupants. The injury in low speed accidents is caused by the acceleration after the impact. That is why even having wet pavement or an icy patch often contributes to a greater injury because acceleration will be faster, not absorbed by friction with the tires. Getting hit by a larger vehicle than yours will also increase velocity of acceleration. The study showed a change in velocity of only 5.97 MPH causes 4.7 g acceleration of the occupants chest and 8.3 g acceleration of the occupants head. That is 8.3 times the force of gravity! This can cause significant injury in many cases.
The same consequences of acceleration or deceleration come from falls off playground equipment, sports injuries, or even tripping at home. All trauma of this sort can create measurable changes in structure and function of the body.
Pain is usually the final step after a low speed injury initiates damage within the body and may occur days or even months later. Chiropractic treatment often diminishes pain before the actual solution to the injury has had time to heal and stabilize.
Chiropractic seeks to repair the damage, not cover it up with drugs or avoidance. If an injury is allowed to heal in a dysfunctional way, that is when more medication, extended chiropractic care, or surgery is required at a later time. Chiropractors understand this, research and results support this.
If you have pain and are not sure what causes it, you might look at recent minor accidents or falls as a possibility. A Chiropractic consultation and examination may help give you explanations and options to eliminate your pain. If you live in the Columbus, NE area, we would be honored to assist you in finding answers to your questions!
Your back and spine is basically the foundation of your body. It is responsible for holding the lower and upper portions together, so it is subjected to a great deal of tension and stress from just holding everything together. So, when you add various lifestyle habits, such as sitting improperly, lack of sleep, injuries and improper bending and lifting; the result can be serious back pain. The good news is, along with visiting your chiropractor in Columbus, NE, there are a few easy things you can do at home to help ease the pain. Here are just a few of the ways to treat back pain at home.
Sitting a desk for 8-hours a day may not seem like a problem, but all of this sitting can actually wreak havoc on your back. If you work at a job that involves sitting for long periods at a time, you can help lessen your back pain by taking breaks; getting up, stretching and walking will help to improve blood circulation and prevent your body from getting stiff. It’s also best to use an ergonomic desk and chair, which will help you sit in the correct position.
There is actually a link between how hydrated your body is, the food you eat and the health of your spine. Drinking plenty of water will help keep your body hydrated, which ultimately adds in the elasticity of your muscles and fluid that surrounds your joints and bones. Eating high calcium foods, such as milk, cheese and yogurt will help keep your bones strong, including the bones in your spine; when your spine is strong, it can help reduce the risk of painful back injuries.
Overworking your back can result in lower back pain, which can be unbearable. Applying heat will help to increase the blood flow in the injured area, which will ultimately help to heal damaged muscles. Applying a heating pad or a warm wrap can also help to loosen tight muscles and relieve muscle spasms.
If you are looking for a good excuse to get a massage, a sore back is a great reason. Not only can a massage help you sleep better at night, which means you will get the rest required to heal sore muscles, but a massage can also help to improve blood flow, relax tight muscles and ease inflammation. Another great way to relieve chronic back pain is with acupuncture. If you have never had acupuncture treatments, contact a local chiropractor, such as Hinze Chiropractic Center to learn more information about the benefits of acupuncture and/or massage for back pain.

People’s attitudes about health, nutrition and wellness have been changing drastically over the past 20 or 30 years in the United States. There has been an increased interest in eating less processed foods, exercising more and in using alternative methods for curing illnesses or healing injuries. Chiropractic care has, in recent years, become one of the most popular and sought-after holistic treatment methods. According to a recent Gallup poll, more than 33 million Americans received chiropractic care in 2014 and, of those people, two-thirds reported feeling that chiropractic adjustments were a highly effective treatment for back and neck pain.
Here at Hinze Chiropractic & Acupuncture, we are also big proponents of using complementary health care methods to enhance and help speed up the healing process. For our patients suffering from chronic illnesses, sports injuries, muscle strains or car accident injuries in Columbus and surrounding areas, we do our best to care for their ailments and alleviate pain in the most natural, hands-on way. We avoid simply masking the pain with prescription or over-the-counter drugs and instead focus on highly effective, non-invasive techniques such as acupuncture, low level laser therapy combined with our manual spinal manipulations. When these gentle treatments are combined, they have proven to be a highly potent treatment for chronic ailments and accident-related injuries.
If you’re looking for Columbus acupuncture practitioners but you’re a bit wary of having a treatment done because of your fear of needles, rest assured that our dedicated chiropractor in Columbus is skilled and experienced at providing gentle, painless acupuncture treatments to stimulate healing. Dr. Hinze is a practitioner of needle-less acupuncture, which uses a Teishin needle or mild electrotherapy to stimulate the appropriate acupuncture points on the body. The Teishin needle is a non-invasive tool so since there is no needle prick, there is no bleeding or risk of infection. Combined with chiropractic adjustments, needle-less acupuncture has the ability to speed up recovery time and offers longer-lasting pain-relief results.
The best way to fully understand how acupuncture and chiropractic care can provide auto injury treatment that will alleviate your pain and help you heal faster is to experience it for yourself.
